Far View Lodge: not green enough (yet)

COLORADO - Far View Lodge is located in the heart of a UNESCO national park and serves as the starting point for guided tours and hiking trips. The Far View promotes itself as a green hotel but aside from being in a stunning green we struggled to see much else that was particularly green. Just click here to read the full review on one of Colorado’s so-called green hideaways. Read the full review.
Far View Lodge: not green enough (yet)
COLORADO – The setting of the Far View Lodge promises a lot. It’s located in the beautiful Mesa Verde (green table) area in southwestern Colorado. The same area where the ‘Ancient Puebloan’ Native American Indians lived for over a thousand years until they disappeared leaving their stunning cliff dwellings behind. Sadly, the untouched natural surroundings are one of few green aspects of the Far View Lodge.

A massive global spectacle for the environment
CAIRO - Last Saturday was the 350 International Day of Climate Action, tens of thousands of people gathered around the world in hundreds of countries to raise awareness about the risk of climate change across the planet.
350 (in case you were wondering), is the safe limit for carbon dioxide in the world - right now we have a concentration of co2 of 390 ppm. So we need to radically reduce our carbon emissions if we want to live in a safe planet.

Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico sets new eco standards
ALBUQUERQUE - Strawberry Earth writer and fixer, Tom van de Beek, is on the road in the US. Here’s the first part in his series of eco hotel reviews from New Mexico. First up, the Andaluz Hotel in Albuquerque - the very place where Paris Hilton’s dad – Conrad Hilton - built his first hotel ever, in 1939.
Hotel Andaluz sets the standard in eco consciousness
ALBUQUERQUE - What I am doing in Albuquerque in the first place? Wedding. One of the effects of globalization is that you gain friendships all over the world. And if you are someone’s real friend you should at least try and visit the very important and ‘yes, I do!’ moment. Flying over to the States is already quite a dilemma if you want to live an environmentally conscious life. I decided to go anyways, but promised myself to only stay in eco-friendly hotels during the 14-day trip, and give an overview of the possibilities for ‘green lodging’ in New Mexico and Colorado.

Strawberry Earth Fanzine now online!
AMSTERDAM - In homage to the 1960s rock music scene, Strawberry Earth has created its own Fanzine. Edition #1 was launched at the first Strawberry Earth Night and it’s a print introduction to Strawberry Earth. The Fanzine is designed by a firm strawberry favourite, Christian Michel Echenique.
It’s made using green label paper, we’ve recycled posters from the first Dutch Environmental Film Festival to create the cover of the Fanzine and we’ve uploaded it in its original print format. So, for the keen strawberry fans among you, you can print and cut to create your very own copy.
Living the HI life
AMSTERDAM - It’s time for the lowdown on another chic, new eco hotel. This time Strawberry Earth paid a visit to HI hotel in the southern French paradise of Nice. The hotel was designed by French designer (and Philippe Starck protégée) Matali Crasset. For the full review click here.
