Sustainable suit

AMSTERDAM - The typical life of a garment, before it ever ends up on a hanger, is often quite exotic. It may have been designed in the Netherlands from fabrics that were developed in Pakistan or Australia and then sewn together in Europe. To environmentally conscious consumers, the itinerary of their clothes has become as important a consideration as the nature of the materials used to make them. That’s why Dutch company,Dutch Spirit, has designed the Ambassador - a brand new line of suits that is entirely sustainable.

Dutch Spirit designer Rein Otto says his company makes the entire manufacturing process transparent and they compensate CO2 by planting trees. Is this where style and sustainability meet? Well, we agree that the sustainability is there but we need a bit more convincing about the style - Strawberry Earth likes its suits in colours other than dark grey pinstripe. Rein Otto says they’re working on new designs so watch this space…
