5 Fake Meats For The Next Decade

If you’re a vegetarian, or if you eat “proper” meats, you might laugh at tales of tumours and lips found in low quality meats. But what exactly goes in to fake meats? Those waxy strips of plasticine, spongy blobs and weird flexible patties. Perhaps they pile parsnip anuses into these things?

Swiss Hotel Palafitte sees the green light

NEUCHATEL - Switzerland is famous in part for its stunning lakes. If you want to enjoy swimming in one of them in style, five star Hotel Palafitte is the perfect hotel for you. An electric buggy parked in the hotel’s foyer ferries guests and their luggage to roomy private suites – quite an experience indeed! 24 out of the hotel’s 40 luxury lodges stand on stilts above the beautiful Lake Neuchatel. You can simply open your balcony doors, slide down private ladder and dive into the refreshing waters of the lake.

Edible art installation

AMSTERDAM - We’re fans of deliciously creative artwork but artist and designer Enoc Armengol has given that idea a totally new meaning. In his installation, Panpaati, Armengol has used baked bread to create furniture. Perfect timing for a post about food given it’s Restaurant Week in Amsterdam. He’s even made a video showing how the work came to life. Check out some more photos of his installation here.

Timberland boat shoes for Spring

AMSTERDAM - There used to be a time when you could only really wear boat shoes if you had a double barrelled name, loved sports like hockey and polo and actually owned a boat! Those days are gone. We love these Timberland Costa Dorada ‘Boat Shoes’ from cult brand and sustainable leader Timberland. There’s even a possibility to design your own Boat Shoe.

Eco Fashion at London Fashion Week

LONDON - Ahhh… London. The city that brought us culinary delights like fish & chips, fashion designer (and environmentalist) Vivienne Westwood and the Estethica eco fashion event, which forms part of London Fashion Week! A bit like Berlin’s THEKEY.TO festival, Estethica is an international event for eco fashion. It’s co-curated by Orsola de Castro, founder of green label From Somewhere, Filippo Ricci and The British Fashion Council.

Greenifying Hotel V

AMSTERDAM - It’s been two weeks since Strawberry Earth Hotel Crash! and we’re now working with Hotel V to plan the best way to spend every cent of the money you all raised (€9,750!) to make the hotel greener. For an idea on the sorts of things that money ‘could’ be spent on, read how Waldorf Cafe (where the Strawberry adventure started) spent the €1,600 we raised there. For that event we worked with eco consultants Search who provided Waldorf Bar with a free green advice.

Stunning photography from Ruben Brulat

PARIS - Ruben Brulat’s photo series entitled Primates is quite simply, stunning. Photography for Ruben is about “capturing humanity” and he has certainly done that in this series. Primates is all about expressing the vulnerability of humans in their natural environment.
